UNDERSTANDING CONCENTRATION + STRATEGIES
3) UNDERSTANDING CONCERTRATION
WHAT IS CONCENTRATION?
- Concentration is the ability to direct one's attention in accordance with one's will. It means control of the attention. It is the ability to focus the mind on one subject, object or thought without being distracted. This is the ability to focus the attention, and at the same time, ignore other unrelated thoughts.
There's a lot of causes of lack concentration
For instance:
- lack of attention
- lack of interest
- lack of motivaton
- distraction from others
- uncomfortable environment
- physiological matters (ilness, tiredness, personal problemms, worries, anxities)
4) STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVING CONCENTRATION
- eliminate distraction - make a practice to block time in your schedule to do a specific task or activity. During this time, request that you be left alone or go to a place where others are unlikely to disturb you: a library, a coffee shop, a private room.
- listen to music - music has been shown to have therapeutic effects on our brains. Light music may help you to concentrate better, but some music may distract you. Experts generally agree that classical music and nature sounds, such as water flowing, are good choices
- eat well - choose foods that moderate blood sugar, maintain energy, and fuel the brain. Fruits, vegetables, and high-fiber foods can keep your blood sugar levels even. Reduce sugary foods and drinks that cause spikes and dips in your sugar levels make you feel dizzy or drowsy.
